Cheadle and Covid 19

Like everywhere else, the current coronavirus crisis has significantly affected life throughout Cheadle.

The Civic Society has also been affected with the AGM, which normally takes places in May, having to be cancelled this year due to the requirements for social distancing. Similarly, many others community events which were scheduled to take place have also been cancelled or postponed.

The Society though has remained active during this time with individual members doing what they can in their own safe way to look after the best interests of Cheadle. This can take many forms from being vigilant to make sure new government rules are adhered to for the benefit of everyone, to undertaking more research at home into the rich history of Cheadle, to local people going through their own personal belongings to unearth artefacts and ephemera which relate to Cheadle life and which may be of interest to others when we return to some sort of normality.

In the meantime, the committee urges everyone to look after themselves, to help and support their neighbours and friends who may need additional assistance at this time and to begin to make preparations for enjoying life in the village again when restrictions are eased and some sort of normality does return.
